The City
As soon as you arrive at Todi, you cannot miss the sight of the Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, a masterpiece very close to the art of Bramante. As you go towards the town centre, you will find the church of Saint Fortunato, the patron saint of the town. The church which is built in a wonderful example of Gothic style, towers over an impressive flight of stairs. A few steps from the right side of the Church there is Piazzale IV Novembre, the highest point of the town, where we find the ruins of the Rocca, destroyed in 1503, and from which it is possible to admire a wonderful view of the South-Western part of the Tiber valley.
The Medieval Piazza del Popolo, surrounded by splendid buildings and by the Cathedral, is the beautiful centre of the town which is also a meeting point for all the inhabitants of Todi. Moreover, Todi is full of churches, monuments, Etruscan and Roman ruins, medieval districts still untouched, narrow alleys and patrician houses ready to be enjoyed in the great tranquillity that characterizes this corner of the earth.
